I have been so busy these last couple of weeks that bloggable events overtake each other before I get round to writing anything about them. I also had the first bout of real homesickness for about a week, which didn’t make me feel much like writing either. I think it was probably brought on to an extent by my meet-up in Stockholm with the man in my life – we had a wonderful weekend and saying goodbye as he got on the bus to the airport was so hard. Anyway, I’m feeling more upbeat now so here are some impressions of this beautiful city in the bright autumn sunshine!
Reunited 🙂
A walk around the Gamla Stan (Old Town)
Cute sheep paintings by Gunilla Annwall
My kind of shop
Little fake Viking boat
Loved the orange awnings in the sun
Life is good in Sweden
Djurgårdsbron
Vasa Museum – I took tons of photos but because it was dark and the boat is so big, there weren’t many good ones. Very worth seeing!
We weren’t quite sure why a photo of Arnie as Conan was next to this statue salvaged from the Vasa boat. It’s kind of funnier not knowing things sometimes.
Yum
In Sweden it is forbidden to jump over sharks
The work of Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle on Skeppsholmen by the Museum of Architecture and Modern Art. Their work is everywhere in Basel, where I spent six years growing up, so this was like finding old friends 🙂
Alexander Calder – The Four Elements
The last day of the Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition, which was brilliant – the mannequins had videos of faces projected onto them, which created a very eerie installation and went perfectly with JPG’s outrageous garments
Hinged corset
Loved the sketches
That cage corset Madonna wore 🙂
At this point I was wandering a little aimlessly as I had said the sad goodbye and was waiting to go catch my ferry…
Sort of how I felt too
Early morning arrival in Turku by moonlight – very different from just a month earlier!
Stockholm is amazing – if you get a chance to go there then do, I think we could have easily spent a week (though maybe not afforded it too well!) 🙂
