Meeting the Moomins

I arrived in Turku about three and a half weeks ago, and I’m only just now managing to catch up on all the updates! Some photos of my arrival in Finland from Edinburgh – we flew to Stockholm and then travelled by overnight ferry to Turku.

Looking Nordic (not Scandinavian – I’m told that strictly speaking, Finland is not Scandinavia!)

I’m over here with Lois, Claudia and Ruth from my home university in Scotland. Our arrival in Turku was made so easy by Niko, one of our two student tutors – he picked us up from the ferry, drove us to get breakfast and then to Ikea to get the essentials, and then cheerfully showed us round Turku on an unseasonably summery day. We’re off to a good start…

p.s. Moominworld only opens in the summer until the last weekend of August – we didn’t actually make it out there at all. Possibly an excuse to come back next summer…
